Poon Hill trek attracts thousands of trekkers each year. This short trek is modest and less inexpensive trekking route of Nepal. Most trekkers usually complete this trek in four to five days and some prolong it to one and half a week as well.

 

You can trek to Poon Hill at any time of the year. Spring season lures a huge number of trekkers to this part of Annapurna region. Other seasons attract very few of them. Winter season from late November to January is among the dead seasons of this trek. Yet you still find some trekkers enjoying the calmness the trail offers in winter.

As the December approaches, Poon Hill experiences its coldest time of the year. The temperature averages about 2-degree Celsius in Ghorepani. And the thermometer reads further down in Poon Hill. The snow and freezing temperature repel the trekkers.

Trekking Ghorepani Poon Hill in November and December:

You can trek to Poon Hill in any season throughout the year. Yet the chilly November and December attract only a few trekkers as compared to Spring. You can still trek Poon Hill in winter, but make sure you prepare yourself well to face the cold weather.

 

If you are yet to experience a night of a freezing temperature, you will encounter it there. People of hotter climate may suffer a little. But, as long as you have a comfy place to accommodate at and enough of energetic, hot meals, you won’t have much problem.

What Poon Hill Offers to Winter Trekkers:

People tend to have their own choice. Most of them trek to Poon Hill in March-April. The blooming rhododendrons adorn the entire lush green forest to a reddened one. Crowds of trekkers fill the trails.

 

On the other hand, there is a minor set of trekkers who prefer the cooler weather and quieter trails of winter. It’s because trekking in winter has its own perks. How exciting it is to walk for hours in the well-trodden trails in a cold weather. You will have fewer people to talk to but more time to enjoy what nature offers. What to Expect and Prepare:

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a modest one when ranked in accordance to intense. There are slightly stiff pathways at times. As the trails are broad and easy to find, snow is not a huge issue on this trek. Also, November and December are among the driest of months, the precipitation is as low as 7.6 mm in Ghorepani. So, rain is unlikely to occur.

 

Since you are traveling in November or December, weather remains pretty good. Many trekkers consider November a good time. But, the late December can sometimes be the exception.

 

You must prepare yourself for the trek as November welcomes the winter. You must have a pair of comfortable shoes, a down-jacket, and your personal requirements.

 

Poon Hill Weather in Other Seasons of the Year:

 

Poon Hill experiences four seasons in a year.

 

In the Spring season, the temperature remains between 20-30 degree Celsius. The sky usually remains cloudy. Summer lasts for around three months from June. The temperature in Poon Hill remains between 20-35 degree Celsius in the  summer.

 

The number of trekkers starts dipping in the late summer with the start of the rainfall. Autumn Season from September starts constantly decreasing the temperature.

Since November-December is not a peak time, you can get the hotel rooms easily. So, if you plan to trek Ghorepani Poon Hill in this time of the year, prepare yourself to face the freezing night.

Hire a guide, a porter if needed, grab a permit and off you go.

 

The well-trodden trails are rarely on the plain; either you will be climbing uphill or descending downhill. But the well-worn paths are not too rocky or stiff with minor obstacles encountering at times.
