Overview
Druk Path Trek is considered to be one of the finest short treks to experience in Bhutan. The trail leads through high mountain passes, and ancient trading route that connects the Paro and Thimpu valleys. Highlights of the trail include splendid lakes with snowy mountain backdrop, pastures of alpine yak, and forests of remarkable rhododendron.
Scenic Views
The best part about all these is that you can enjoy the scenic views even if you do not have prior trekking experience. It is a moderate trek that navigates through a famous route of beautiful high altitude lakes heaving with fish, spectacular temples and dzongs, and magnificent views of the Himalayas.
One of the picturesque regions, Paro Valley has a splendid crystalline river that flows through the fertile rice fields that cover the valley. More than 155 temples and monasteries are situated in this area alone. Some of them date as far back as the 14th century. Since this pastoral area is where the only airport in Bhutan is located, visitors often stay longer in this place.
Spiritual Experience
Druk Path Trek is a spiritual experience that brings you closer to nature. Traversing the beautiful landscapes will remind you of the simplicity and beauty of the outdoors. The snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, and dense forests give variety to the experience.
For a more spiritual experience, the trek leads to Himalaya’s most sacred Buddhist temples and monasteries. You get to hike up to see the Taktsang Monastery. This world-famous monastery is perched on a cliff that is 900m high.
Unique Culture
On top of the magnificent views, you will also get to witness Bhutan’s unique culture. Druk Path Trek’s route allows you to take a close look at the local villages and farmhouses. You can also spend time marvelling at the ancient temples and dzongs with their splendid wall painting and carving.
The isolated temples, villages, and towns are the centre of the magnificent landscape. Seeing the culture first hand adds more to the Bhutan experience. Most of the Bhutanese population is concentrated in villages and small towns. It is in these areas where you get to see the spirit of the place.
There are cultural attractions like museums, markets, and fortresses to visit as well. Depending on the options you signed up for, you can also incorporate a meditation session and a cooking lesson to add to your experience.
Most of these treks are possible from September to December and from February to June. The journeys are private and are tailor-made for your specific preferences. You can customise your trek and tour as you wish. If you prefer to spend more time in certain places or activities, you may do so.
