Join Ariel Estulin on a unique opportunity to experience Nepal through the eyes of professional photographers. Nepal, a land of pristine beauty offers unique opportunities for photographers interested in travel and landscape photography. We explore both a rich local culture and spectacular vistas of the Himalayas.

This trek, at low altitude, has been arranged to allow you to enjoy some of the highest Himalayan peaks as you walk through the foothills of the Annapurna Range, as well as experiencing the Nepali culture and world heritage sites of Kathmandu.

From the terraced rice-fields above Pokhara, we walk along easy trails through picturesque Gurung villages and through one of Nepal’s biggest rhododendron forests as we make our way to Poon Hill.

The early morning view of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Machhapuchhre (6,997m) and Annapurna South (7,219m), from Poon Hill are the highlight of this trek. Short and fairly easy days, this trek is a perfect introduction to Nepal’s mountain treasures.

It is a good starter trek for those not sure of their walking ability, or simply for those who wish to make the most of their stay in Nepal. The trek finishes at the magnificent lake town of Pokhara, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the lake and its backdrop of snow-capped mountains.

This unforgettable experience is perfect for those who predominantly wish to travel in Nepal and at the same time, improve their photography skills. This workshop is for all level of photographers.

What to Expect
This workshop was designed with the photographer in mind. It’s a good mixture of a cultural experience and landscape vistas.

The trekking portion of this workshop is quite easy and altitude should not be a problem. You will not have to carry your backpack. For this, we will use porters who will be assisting us with this task. All you need to carry is your daypack with your basic necessities: snacks, water and camera. Of course!

We keep our workshop groups small, so what you’ll receive is hands-on, one-on-one photography instruction. If you’re just a beginner, not to worry, we’ll cover the basics of camera control, including aperture, shutter speed and ISO – how and when to use them. Over the course of the workshop we’ll discuss composition and how to create engaging and powerful images by employing the rule of thirds, leading lines and depth of field.

Every evening we have a critique session of participant’s photographs. Photo critique is a big part of the process in learning photography. We’ll have a laptop or ipad on hand to review and critique your images. This gives you an opportunity for immediate feedback. We’ll also show you how to post processing your images. In digital photography the image capture is just the beginning, the real fun is creating your images in post-production.
