Overview
Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek, also known as Cho La Pass Trek, or Everest circuit trek, is one of the most adventurous and challenging treks in the Everest Himalayas.
The trek follows the standard Everest Base Camp Trek route, passing through the vibrant town of Namche Bazaar and the spectacular site of Tyangboche where a magnificent monastery sits amidst a snow capped mountain panorama.
After reaching Everest Base Camp and soaking up the icy wilderness sanctuary, the route takes you to the summit of Kala Patthar, a spectacular viewpoint to appreciate Everest in all her glory.
You will be truly amazed by the vistas from here, mountains as far as the eye can see, covered in a blanket of snow.
We then leave the base camp trekkers behind and head out to conquer the Cho La Pass at 5330 meters. Steep inclines and rocky paths await you but your efforts will be rewarded as you walk through a magnificent high altitude mountain pass.
If this was not enough, we then carry on further to the glistening waters of the Gokyo Lake, a system of fresh water and sacred lakes, hidden in the high Himalaya.
Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek really has it all, high altitude trekking, spectacular views insurmountable anywhere else in the world, the welcoming culture of the Sherpa people and a visit to the iconic Everest Base Camp.
You also get the opportunity to summit Gokyo Peak (5483 meters) offering astonishing, panoramic views of Cho Oyo, Everest, and Makalu.

Important information about re-routing of Lukla flight
Civil Aviation authority of Nepal issued a notice instructing all airlines to divert Lukla flights to Manthali airport which is situated in Ramechap. Manthali Airport is situated in Ramechap District, about 145kms/4hrs drive from Kathmandu. The airport started operation since 2019 spring season when our airport was closed temporarily. Because of the successful operation from Manthali airport and to reduced traffic of Kathmandu airport, Civil Aviation authority has diverted all Lukla flights to Manthali airport. Until further notice, there will be 4 hours drive each way while traveling to/from Lukla; this means you will drive (starting at 230am-300am) about 4 hours to catch flight to Lukla and 4 hours on return to Kathmandu after flight from Lukla. This may change in future as per airport conditions. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Step-by-Step 3-Month Preparation Guide for Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek
Are you planning to trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes? This 19-day adventure is one of the most beautiful and challenging routes in Nepal. To fully enjoy it, you need to prepare your body and mind in advance.
At Mosaic Adventure, we have been leading groups to Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, and across the Cho La Pass for over 15 years. Our licensed Sherpa guides and well-planned itineraries have helped thousands of trekkers reach their goals safely at altitudes above 5,000 meters.
This guide gives you a clear three-month training plan along with tips on gear, food, and mental preparation. With the right preparation, you can reduce the risk of altitude sickness, improve your stamina, and enjoy the unforgettable views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Ama Dablam.
Why Train for 3 Months?
The Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek is not just a regular walk. It requires strong legs, good heart and lung fitness, and mental focus. On average, you will walk 5 to 8 hours each day on rocky trails, steep climbs, and high passes such as Cho La (5,420m). A three-month plan helps you:
- Build endurance for long days of trekking
- Strengthen your legs and core for steep paths
- Lower the chance of injury and speed up recovery
- Improve mental strength for remote conditions in the mountains
Our carefully designed itinerary includes acclimatization days in places like Namche Bazaar, Dingboche, and Gokyo. Combined with proper preparation, this gives our trekkers a 98% success rate.
Month 1: Build Your Base
Start slowly and focus on building a steady routine. Train 4 to 5 times a week for 45 to 60 minutes each session.
Cardio Training
- Walk or hike 5 to 8 km three times a week on flat ground
- Add one session of stair climbing or hill walking each week
Strength Training
- Squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks (3 sets of 10 to 15 reps)
- Core exercises like planks and twists to prepare for carrying a backpack
Flexibility and Recovery
- Stretching or yoga twice a week
- Take rest days to avoid injuries
Weekly Goal: 16 to 24 km of walking in total
Guide’s tip: Start walking on small hills whenever possible. It is the best way to prepare for the steep climb from Lukla to Namche Bazaar.
Month 2: Build Strength and Stamina
Increase the intensity to get closer to real trekking conditions. Train 5 times a week for 60 to 90 minutes.
Cardio Training
- Hike 8 to 13 km with 150 to 300 meters of elevation three to four times a week
- Carry a backpack with 5 to 7 kg weight
Strength Training
- Step-ups, calf raises, and deadlifts (3 sets of 12 to 20 reps)
- Focus on strong legs and stable knees for rocky trails
Altitude Practice
- Use stairs or treadmill incline if available
- Practice slow and deep breathing to prepare for thinner air
Weekly Goal: 32 to 48 km of walking, including one long hike of 13 to 16 km
Month 3: Trek-Specific Training
This month is about simulating the trek. Push your limits in the first three weeks and then reduce intensity in the last week to rest before departure.
Cardio Training
- Hike 13 to 19 km with 450 to 600 meters elevation three to four times a week
- Do back-to-back hikes on consecutive days to train for multi-day walking
Strength Training
- Hill repeats, lunges, and balance exercises (3 sets of 15 to 25 reps)
- Train with the same gear and shoes you will use on the trek
Mental Preparation
- Read stories from Sherpas and trekkers or watch documentaries about Everest
- Practice meditation or breathing exercises to stay calm on long climbs
Taper Week
- Reduce to light walks of 3 to 5 km, three times in the final week
- Focus on eating well and sleeping properly
Essential Gear Checklist
Pack light but smart. At higher altitudes, the temperature can fall to minus 20°C. Mosaic Adventure provides duffel bags, jackets, and sleeping bags on request.
Clothing
- Base layers, fleece, down jacket, waterproof jacket and pants
- Hiking boots that are already broken in
- Wool or thermal socks
Essentials
- 30 to 35L backpack
- Trekking poles, headlamp, sunglasses, reusable water bottle
Health Kit
- Diamox (for altitude), sunscreen, personal first-aid kit
Tech
- Power bank or solar charger, as charging in teahouses costs extra
Baggage limit for Lukla flight: 15 kg. You can store extra luggage at our Kathmandu hotel free of charge.
This is just an outline of packing. Check out our complete packing list for the EBC trek.
Food and Health Tips
Your body will burn more energy at high altitudes. Plan for around 3,000 to 4,000 calories per day.
- Eat high-carbohydrate meals such as rice, pasta, bread, lentils, and potatoes
- Add proteins like eggs and lentils for strength
- Choose vegetarian food on the trek to avoid stomach issues
- Drink at least 4 liters of water per day (use purification tablets)
- Avoid alcohol and smoking
- Take acclimatization seriously and let your body adjust gradually
Our guides carry pulse oximeters to check your oxygen level daily and we have full rescue support if needed.
With the right preparation and guidance, the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek is absolutely achievable. Follow this 3-month plan, pack smart, and listen to your body. We at Mosaic Adventure will handle the rest so you can focus on the journey and the views that will stay with you forever.
The cost of the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek in 2026 is USD 1,630 per person. This price includes hotel accommodation in Kathmandu, round-trip flights to Lukla, airport transfers, an experienced trekking guide, a porter, all meals during the trek, teahouse accommodation, required permits and several additional services that help ensure a safe and comfortable trekking experience.
The Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lakes Trek via Cho La Pass trek is considered to be a strenuous trekking route in Nepal. You do not require any previous trekking or mountaineering experience and it is not required that you have any technical experience, only that you be in good physical condition and are able to walk for four to six hours per day over hilly terrain with a light bag pack. If you are not an experienced trekker or do not exercise regularly, we recommend that you embark on a training program well in advance of commencing this trip. You will be given plenty of time to rest throughout the trek and the pace will be slow to help you acclimatize safely to the increasing elevation.
In Kathmandu, your accommodation will usually include an attached bathroom and have facilities such as air conditioning, reception and dining services. The level of accommodation is generally Nepalese 3 star and is comfortable and clean. If you require an upgrade of accommodation in Kathmandu, there are many 4 star and 5 star options at an extra cost. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require an upgrade.
Once you start your trek, you will be staying in “Teahouses.” Accommodation is limited, especially the higher you get, so your room may vary from a private single/double room to a bed in a dormitory. Bed mattresses are usually firm, not sprung mattresses that you may be used to at home. The accommodation is very basic and there will usually be shared shower and toilet facilities. There is a communal dining hall in all teahouses offering limited meal choices. Although basic, the teahouses are clean and are a welcome, friendly and warm resting place after a day trekking.
We ask that all our customers bring water purification tablets and a water bottle with them. (they can be bought in Kathmandu if forgotten) Mosaic supports responsible tourism so we do not encourage trekkers to buy bottled water when in the Himalayan region, although it is be available, there is no proper disposal system for plastic bottles and we would like to keep our mountains clean and trash free. There will be plenty of water available along the way to fill your bottles and most brands of purification tablets take just 30 minutes before you can drink your water. We recommend that you drink a minimum of 3 to 4 liters of water per day whilst on your trek.
Any luggage that you will not require during your trek can be kept securely in the hotel in Kathmandu or in the store room of our office.
Walking poles are not essential but can be useful especially on the way down. Poles help you balance on the way down and take the strain off of your legs (quad muscles) on some of the steep climbs. You can buy or hire poles in Kathmandu and they easily collapse so you can attach them to your back pack when they are not needed.
There are plenty of trekking shops in Kathmandu selling equipment inexpensively compared to the prices you would normally pay at home, although, the quality of these products cannot always be guaranteed. If you do not want to take the risk, we recommend you buy major items such as trekking shoes, before you arrive in Nepal. It is also recommended you buy your shoes well in advance of your trek so you can “break them in” and avoid blisters during your trip.
Yes, you can, in the teahouses. Please remember that plugs might be different than at home so don’t forget to bring adapters with you or buy them in Kathmandu before the trip. You will have to pay for the use of the electricity to recharge your electrical items, usually at a cost of $2-3 US per hour.
Most people can obtain a visa on entry to Nepal. There are some countries where a visa will need to be obtained prior to traveling (you can find a list of these countries at www.immi.gov.np)
If you want to avoid the sometimes lengthy queues at the airport, you can obtain a visa from the Nepali embassy in you home country before you travel. Please visit the appropriate websites in your country for details.
If you want to obtain a visa on arrival, you will need to fill in a landing card, (most airlines provide these before landing in Kathmandu, if not, they will be available in the airport) pay a fee (cost differs depending on your length of stay) and provide a passport photo so don’t forget to bring one in your hand luggage to present to the immigration officers. Visa fees are as follows:
US Dollars 25 or other convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto for 15 days multiple entry visa.
US Dollars 40 or other convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto for 30 days multiple entry visa.
US Dollars 100 or other convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto for 90 days multiple entry visa.
(information from the department of immigration, Nepal)
We would advise you to bring US dollars to pay for your visa, most major currencies are usually accepted also. Although there is a currency exchange in the airport (if they will not accept your currency), you may not get the best exchange rate; therefore it is always a safe bet to bring US dollars.
Showers are available at the teahouses. They will usually be shared bathrooms in most teahouses, especially the higher up you go. You will have to pay for a hot water shower per person. The higher you are, the colder it gets and you may find that you do not want to shower as often so you can wait just a few days until your descent.
Local currency in Nepal is rupees. We recommend you bring US dollars with you to Nepal and exchange them here as this is easily done and is a widely accepted currency. Although you may get a lesser rate on traveler’s cheques, we suggest you carry a mixture of both depending on your needs. The amount of money you will need on a daily basis depends on your spending habits. A guide would be $10 per day for extra drinks and bar bill during your trek and $20 per day to cover lunch/dinner whilst in Kathmandu.
You will need to carry a reasonable sized daypack, big enough to carry personal items, water, camera, snacks, sunscreen, hat, a fleece jacket and gloves for higher altitudes. The porters will carry the bigger packs with your clothes etc…. They will carry packs up to 20kg. (10kg per person)
We will arrange a pickup service free of charge at anytime of the day or night to transfer you from the airport to your hotel. You will be met by a Mosaic representative on arrival. If you have booked a trip with us but have arranged to arrive in Kathmandu earlier and do your own thing until the trip starts, we will still pick you up at the airport, you just need to let us know your arrival date and time so we can come and meet you. Kindly look for signage showing the Mosaic Adventure logo or your name. Please note; We recommend that you deal with your own bags at the airport and carry them yourselves. There are people who will offer to carry your bags and will expect payment. You are not obliged to pay these people and it is not advisable to get out your wallet in front of them. Just tell them ‘No, thank you!’ if someone approaches you and walk away.
It depends on the nature of the sickness. Usually, if you become sick, you will descend to a lower altitude with the help and support of the guide and porters. If you are seriously ill, we will arrange an emergency helicopter evacuation service. Our guide will take immediate action according to the situation. Please ensure you arrange travel insurance that covers you for an evacuation service and trekking at high altitudes.
*Altitude sickness can affect everyone whilst trekking including young and healthy people and is a genuine concern in higher altitudes. If you feel dizzy, suffer palpitations or severe headaches, return immediately to a lower altitude. Do not take altitude sickness lightly. It can be fatal! Please familiarize yourself with the symptoms of altitude sickness before your trek. Do not ignore even the mildest of symptoms, inform your guide immediately. Our guides carry basic medicine and first aid equipment including simple painkillers, altitude sickness tablets, bandages, balm for muscle ache and medication to treat diarrhea and vomiting.
These are the questions we are often asked and we hope that you will find the answers useful. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries.
That’s a super common question! If you’re fit, the Gokyo Lakes and Everest Base Camp trek is absolutely doable, but yes, it is a bit more challenging than the standard EBC route.
The main reason is the Cho La Pass (5,420m / 17,782 ft). This high-altitude crossing is one of the most exciting parts of the trip, but it is also the most demanding day.
Here is a quick breakdown to help you decide:
| Trek Feature | Gokyo Lakes & EBC Trek | Classic EBC Trek |
| Overall Difficulty | Challenging / Strenuous | Moderate / Challenging |
| Key Challenge | Crossing the Cho La Pass | Sustained high-altitude walking |
| Altitude | Reaches the same max elevation (Kalapatthar) | Reaches the same max elevation (Kalapatthar) |
| Duration | Longer (usually 15 to 18 days) | Shorter (usually 12 to 14 days) |
What to Know About Difficulty and Altitude
- The Cho La Pass: The trails to Gokyo Village are generally similar to the regular EBC path. The challenge is the Pass itself. It’s a rocky, steep, and sometimes icy climb and descent. You’ll need good stamina, strong legs, and a steady pace, but no technical climbing experience is required.
- Altitude Experience: You don’t need prior high-altitude trekking experience to do this route. Being reasonably fit is what matters most. In fact, many people find the Gokyo route’s slower, more meandering approach to the highest points can actually help their body adjust (acclimatize) better. Your guide will always set a safe, controlled pace.
- Experience Required: If you can handle being on your feet for 5 to 7 hours a day and are ready for one big, tough day crossing the pass, you are ready for this adventure.
Why We Love the Gokyo Route
This combined route gives you the absolute best views and the most diversity in the Everest region. You get the turquoise Gokyo Lakes, the incredible panoramic views from Gokyo Ri, and the classic trek to Everest Base Camp. If you’re looking for a more adventurous trip with stunning scenery and a rewarding challenge, this is definitely the one to pick.

We offer multiple dates for the EBC and Gokyo Lakes trek in 2024 and 2025, enabling you to select a date that aligns with your schedule.
As you proceed with your booking, you will be directed to the payment page. Choose between two payment options: pay a 20% deposit to secure your trip or pay the full amount upfront. If you select the deposit option, settle the remaining 80% in cash (in USD or widely accepted currencies like AUD, CAD, EURO, GBP, SGD, etc.) upon your arrival in Kathmandu.
Booking Your International Flight
For our 20-day EBC and Gokyo Lakes tour, plan to arrive in Kathmandu on Day 1 and depart on Day 20.
We’ve allotted 2 nights in Kathmandu to help you adjust to the time difference, recover from jet lag and prepare for the adventure ahead. After the trek, you’ll spend two nights in Kathmandu, with an extra buffer day for your personal exploration or relaxation.
Consider booking additional days after the trek to accommodate any potential flight cancellations from Lukla due to adverse weather conditions.
Packing Essentials
Packing for the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek varies for each individual. To assist you, we’ve compiled the ultimate packing list for EBC as a helpful guideline. Please review it carefully and pack accordingly based on the season of your trek and your personal preferences.
Arrival Information
After booking your flight, kindly share the details with us. If you arrive earlier, we can arrange accommodation at the same hotel for an additional fee and provide airport pickup services. Look for our office staff holding a “Mosaic Adventure” sign as you exit Tribhuvan International Airport.
Flight to Lukla and Return
During peak seasons (mid-March to mid-May in spring and late September to late November in autumn), flights to Lukla and back operate from Ramechap airport. At other times, they depart from Kathmandu. Rest assured, we’ll arrange the approximately 4-hour drive from Kathmandu to Ramechap and back at no extra cost.
Trek Starting and Ending Days
The trekking days span from Day 4 to Day 17. You’ll fly to Lukla on Day 4 to commence the trek and return on Day 17. On Day 18, you’ll fly back to Kathmandu and be transferred to your hotel. For instance, if your tour is booked from January 5th to January 24th, 2025, you’ll fly to Lukla on January 7th, 2025 and return to Kathmandu on January 22nd, 2025.
Standard Trekking Day
Prepare for 15 nights and 16 days on the EBC and Gokyo Lakes trek. Trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back, spending nights in villages like Phakding, Namche, Tyangboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep, Dzongla, Gokyo, Dole and Lukla.
Each day’s trek will commence around 7:30 AM and conclude in the late afternoon, with breaks along the way.
Expect numerous photo opportunities and enjoy breakfast and dinner at the same place, while lunch is provided en route. Our team will provide regular briefings about timing and stops.
Accommodation
In Kathmandu, enjoy 3-star hotel accommodation with twin/double sharing beds. During the trek, you’ll stay in teahouses. Teahosues are basic yet clean accommodations providing a comfortable night’s rest.
Meal Arrangements
In Kathmandu, breakfast is included in your package, usually served buffet-style, except on the day of your Lukla flight, when you’ll receive a packed breakfast. During the trek, choose from a menu offering local and international meals.
Ensure to consume vegetarian meals from your arrival in Kathmandu until the end of your trek due to limited toilet facilities along the trail (meat can easily cause stomach disorder).
Baggage Allowance
Your total baggage weight allowance for the flight to Lukla is 15 kilos (33 pounds), combining both checked and carry-on baggage. Pack not more than 10 kilos in your checked bag and 5 kilos in your carry-on to adhere to the 15-kilo limit.
You can leave unnecessary items at the Kathmandu hotel for storage at no cost. Remember to photograph your bag-tag for easy identification if needed.
Water Consumption
While bottled water is available, we encourage the use of reusable water bottles and water treatment pills to minimize plastic waste. Aim to consume more than 4 liters of water daily to stay hydrated.
Electricity, Charging and Wi-Fi
Please note that trekking to EBC and Gokyo Lakes doesn’t guarantee urban amenities. While charging and Wi-Fi facilities are available at an extra cost, they may not be reliable. We advise against planning work or online meetings during the trek to fully immerse in the mountain experience.
Additional Expenses and Tipping
Carry Nepali rupees for expenses like beverages and Wi-Fi. Allocate around 200 to 250 USD equivalent Nepali rupees for personal expenses and 250-300 USD for tipping your guide and porter, depending on the service provided.
Temperature Considerations
During the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek, expect varying temperatures as you ascend. The lowest temperatures occur above 4500 meters, notably in places like Lobuche, Gorakshep, Dzongla, and Gokyo. Temperatures can drop to minus 15/20 degrees Celsius in spring and minus 20/25 degrees Celsius in autumn, particularly around mid-November.
Extended Stay Options
To further explore Kathmandu, consider booking day tours to Bhaktapur or Changunarayan. Our tour coordinator can assist in planning additional activities. Alternatively, opt for a pre-EBC/Gokyo Lakes acclimatization trek to Poon Hill, Mardi Himal or other side trips around Kathmandu.
Feel free to reach out to discuss these options after booking your Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek.
Overall Trip Rating:
- Verified Purchase By Deepti Patel December 3, 2025 A Life Changing AdventureThis was my first major solo trek and I felt nervous at the beginning, but trekking to Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lakes through Mosaic Adventure made me feel safe right from the start. Our guide, Ramesh, was excellent and taught us how to breathe slowly when the air became thin at higher altitude. He also spotted various wildlife for us that I would not have noticed on my own and I was very keen on seeing new animals throughout the trek. Both acclimatization days were well planned in the itinerary and the side trips played an important role in helping us adjust properly to the altitude. Along the journey we tried different local foods, including momos and enjoyed them. From beginning to end, everything was well organized and I am truly happy with the entire Mosaic Adventure team, from co-founder Madhav to our guide Ramesh and from the porters to the carefully selected teahouses. Every detail felt thoughtfully arranged, which made the whole Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek experience very smooth. Our flight out of Lukla was cancelled and that part gave us a difficult experience, but Madhav immediately arranged a jeep from Surke back to Kathmandu since we had not planned enough buffer days to wait for the next flight. I highly recommend that future trekkers add buffer days to avoid the long drive to Kathmandu in case of flight cancellations, which seems to be common in the Everest region. Other than that, it was a truly life changing adventure for me. Thanks to the team, we also met three other trekkers with whom we shared this unforgettable Himalayan journey.
- Verified Purchase By Catherine A October 3, 2025 Capturing the HimalayasI am a photographer, so I am always looking for the perfect shot. And Everest is a goldmine. Every day brings something new: forests, rocky cliffs, tall peaks, high Himalayan lakes, and glaciers. I probably took a thousand photos, but the sunset at Kalapatthar and the sunrise from Gokyo Ri were the best. The light spread over the mountains like a dream. The pace was easy enough that I could use my tripod and wait for the right moment. Even the small details, like prayer flags against the blue sky and reflections in the rivers, were beautiful. Photographers should bring extra memory cards. This place is amazing. I would like to thank Raj at Mosaic Adventure, our guide Ramesh, and all the hardworking porters for helping us complete the EBC and Gokyo Lakes Trek. I hope I will be back again to do another trek with you.
- Verified Purchase By Scott Finkner September 7, 2025 Real Adventure with an Amazing TeamThe Gokyo to Everest Base Camp trek was a true adventure, and with an amazing team it became the trip of a lifetime. The views from Gokyo Ri and the feeling of standing at Base Camp were worth every single step. Our guide Purna was friendly and shared great stories about Nepali life, culture, and people. The tea houses were simple but cozy, and the food was much better than I expected. The only small issue was a mix-up with our hotel in Kathmandu, but the team fixed it quickly and it caused no problems for us. Crossing Cho La Pass was the toughest day, so make sure you have good boots. Mosaic Adventure made this a journey I will always remember.
- Verified Purchase By Jen D June 6, 2025 Best Trip Ever with a Great Guide, BuddhaI cannot say enough good things about this trek in May. The Gokyo Lakes sparkled like gems, and reaching Everest Base Camp was a proud and unforgettable moment. Our guide Buddha felt like a friend, always checking on us and sharing his knowledge about the Himalayas. Our porter Mingma worked so hard and always greeted us with a smile. Mosaic Adventure handled all the details, which made the whole experience stress free. The trek was tough, but it was absolutely worth it.
- Verified Purchase By Alison Goldin May 10, 2025 Amazing Trek with a Great TeamIn April I joined the Gokyo to Everest Base Camp trek, and it was the best adventure of my life. Our guide Sonam was very kind, knowledgeable, and always supportive. The views from Kala Patthar and Gokyo Ri were stunning, with clear lakes and huge peaks like Everest and Cho Oyu. Crossing Cho La Pass was tough, but Sonam and our porter Bala made us feel safe and confident. Mosaic Adventure arranged everything for us, from flights to accommodations, so we could just enjoy the journey. The only difficult part was the cold, so I recommend bringing a warm sleeping bag. This trek is an experience I will always remember.
- Verified Purchase By Natasha R April 15, 2025 Great Trek to EBC & Gokyo Lakes with Chitwan ExtensionMy husband and I booked the Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Lakes, followed by a Chitwan safari tour. All arranged by Mosaic Adventure. We spent a total of 24 days in Nepal and from the moment we arrived at the airport, everything was taken care of. We were warmly welcomed by our guide Madan, who led us throughout the trek. With over 20 years of guiding experience, we always felt safe and well looked after. The trek itself was an incredible experience, with stunning views and unforgettable moments. After completing the trek, we headed to Chitwan and stayed at Hotel Parkland, also arranged by Mosaic. The safari and overall experience in Chitwan were fantastic. From arrival to departure, everything went smoothly. We returned home with amazing memories and are grateful for the care and professionalism shown by the Mosaic Adventure team. If we ever return to Nepal, we’ll definitely book with them again.
- Verified Purchase By Robert Woods December 22, 2024 Would give 10 stars for this magnificent experience!I just completed the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek with Mosaic Adventure and I wish I could give more than 5 stars for the amazing experience I had with them. Everyone from Mosaic was professional and truly prioritized customer needs. For the price, you get more than what you pay for. A special thanks to our guide, Purna, for being so patient throughout the trek and managing everyone's needs without a single complaint. Our small group enjoyed every moment of the trip and I highly recommend Mosaic Adventure for being wonderful every step of the way... from the moment we arrived in Nepal until our departure.
- Verified Purchase By Dennis E November 16, 2024 Tough but Worth ItEBC and Gokyo Lakes trek was incredible but also very challenging. I went with a few friends, and the scenery was unreal. Gokyo Lakes looked like a painting, and reaching Everest Base Camp felt like a dream. Our guide Pralhad was patient and checked on us every day, especially when I felt dizzy from the altitude. Crossing Cho La Pass was super tough with icy trails, but our porters carried our bags like champions. Mosaic Adventure did a great job guiding us during the planning phase. They suggested keeping buffer days, and we added two. This turned out to be very helpful because our Lukla flight was delayed by a day. We were not stressed since we had the buffer days, but we saw other trekkers panicking about missing their international flights. I also liked the itinerary of going to EBC first and then crossing Cho La. When I asked Madhav why, he explained that some people cannot handle high altitude for too many days, and since most trekkers want to reach EBC, they place it earlier in the trek. This made sense because one of my friends decided to return to Namche Bazaar and wait for us after EBC, as he was not feeling well around 5000 meters and did not want to spend more days at that height. Overall, it was a great trip with an amazing guide. Listen to the team’s advice during preparation, pack snacks and extra layers, and you will love this trek.
- Verified Purchase By Natalia Crowell November 16, 2024 EBC & Gokyo Lakes Trek via Cho La Pass - Truly SpecialI recently completed the EBC and Gokyo Lakes trek with the Cho La Pass crossing and it was honestly one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. I was traveling solo but never felt alone, our group was supportive, fun and from all over the world, which made it even more special. Buddha, our guide from Mosaic Adventure, was absolutely brilliant. Calm, kind and incredibly experienced. He always knew just what to say or do when the trail got tough. I had a few slow days, especially crossing Cho La Pass, but Buddha kept an eye on everyone and made sure we felt safe and motivated throughout. The itinerary was well balanced with enough time to acclimatize and the route itself is just stunning, lakes, glaciers, mountain passes and of course Everest Base Camp. Big thanks to the Mosaic team for such a thoughtfully planned and well executed trek. If you're looking to do the EBC and Gokyo Lakes trek with something a little extra, this is the one. And if you get Buddha as your guide, you're in very good hands.
- Verified Purchase By Andy Hamm March 10, 2024 Excellent EBC & Gokyo Lakes TrekBest trek ever to date, going to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes in the Everest region. We had 20 days trip planned with Mosaic Adventure and they did a great job arranging our trek. Raj is really helpful and accommodating, as is our guide Ramesh. These guys are the best, so we definitely recommend them for your trekking trip to Nepal.
- Verified Purchase By Nicola Goldstraw December 17, 2023 Fantastic TripWe initially planned to trek to Everest Base Camp, but later decided to extend our adventure to include a visit to Gokyo Lakes. We were looking for more peaceful experience on a less traveled trail. Upon reaching out to Mosaic Adventure, Madhav promptly provided us with all the information we needed and answered our queries over WhatsApp, clearly and promptly. Our journey began when we met our guide, BN. He proved to be an amazing guide, without whom the entire trip would not have been possible. He is highly experienced, having completed this trek numerous times and is familiar with almost everyone in the area. BN was flexible and accommodating, adjusting the itinerary to our preferences, maintaining our pace and regularly checking on our well being. Each evening, he briefed us on the next day's trek, helping us prepare and pack accordingly. In summary, it was a fantastic trip, well organized and I highly recommend both our guide and the company. I would gladly trek with them again.
- Verified Purchase By Marcus Nomikos November 13, 2023 Unforgettable and amazing adventureMy friend and I had an unforgettable and amazing adventure doing the Everest Base and Gokyo Lakes trek. Airport transfers, Kathmandu tour, Lukla flight, teahouses, meals, permits, etc., were well arranged. Guide Ashok, who took us around Kathmandu, is really knowledgeable. During the trek, we had Pralhad as our guide and Sonu as the porter, both of them were really good. Pralhad was helpful, friendly and attentive to our needs, always by our side to make us feel safe and comfortable. Thank you everyone at Mosaic Adventure for arranging our Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek.

The team at Mosaic Adventure was friendly, helpful and professional that helped us build confidence for the adventure ahead. Our trek took us to Everest Base Camp, Kalapathar, Cho La Pass, Gokyo Valley, Gokyo Ri peak and beyond, where we get to see and experience breathtaking landscapes every day. - Verified Purchase By Charlie P June 19, 2022 Highly recommend this agencyTwo of us arrived in Nepal in the middle of May and looked around Thamel for a company to organize a trek to Gokyo Lakes along with Everest Base Camp. After looking at online reviews, we visited Mosaic Adventure and a few other companies. After speaking to Madhav and meeting our guide Pralhad in the office, we decided to go with them. They also allowed us to rent a sleeping bag and a down jacket without any additional cost. Our trek was amazing. Guide Pralhad took good care of everything, the food was good, accommodations were great and Pralhad has a lot of experience. It turned out we chose the right company and we can highly recommend them to anyone planning their treks in Nepal.
- Verified Purchase By Jennifer Smith May 17, 2022 Incredible TrekThanks to everyone at Mosaic Adventure for making our group's trip incredible! Madhav organized our Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek for 7 of us. Everything went perfectly and smoothly. The service was excellent, with a very friendly attitude. I really love the country. I recommend all of you to come to Nepal and choose this team to organize your trek.
- Verified Purchase By Natalia Maqsimchook December 12, 2016 Perfect company to go atop of any mountainFinding Mosaic was my extremely good luck. In the beginning I was attracted by feedback from many happy clients, well-formulated description of services and tourist products offered by the company in addition to competitive pricing. During negotiation I enjoyed efficiency with which my queries were handled. The way Madhav has addressed my concerns made the decision-making on the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo trek really stress-free and easy. And my personal encounter with the company was even better. It delivered to the promise. Logistical arrangements, including airport pickups, hotel in Kathmandu, accommodations and meals during the trek, were impeccable. I would like to praise Mosaic for the ability to attract very interesting and pleasant people to work for them. My special thanks to Basu, who guided my discovery of spiritual treasures of the city, secrets of mandala painting and magic properties of singing bowls. He is so keen and enthusiastic to share his passion for spiritual and cultural history, that it is impossible to stay unmoved. And Rudra is the real mountain gem. It is a privilege and fortune to have him as a guide and it is just impossible to imagine the trek without him. Never felt more secure and confident, and he is a perfect company to go atop of any mountain. I feel honored to join the group of many happy clients and recommend Mosaic to my friends and people planning a trip to Nepal. As for me, now Mosaic is my main entry point into the world of trekking and adventure in Nepal.
- Verified Purchase By Nanette Pettigrew March 3, 2015 Safe and wonderful trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo LakesWe booked our trip to Everest Base Camp and the Gokyo Lakes as an independent group of 3 adults (we are a family) with the recommendation of Madhav. He was the one I corresponded with while arranging this trip over the internet. He was excellent in always getting back to me instantly as long as he was open (14 hour time/day difference). Once in Kathmandu, we met with Raj, who actually coordinated the trip and side trips. He was excellent. He was always in touch with our guide to make sure that we were safe and having a wonderful time. Our guide, Shanker, and two porters, Chiring and Kami (not sure of spellings) were excellent. Shanker kept a close eye on us and always made us feel safe and happy. He would always book teahouses each night that he knew we would approve of (and we could be fussy)! The porters carried our heavy gear and were always so pleasant and helpful for any of our needs. I cannot say enough about these guys. When we were tired, hungry and grumpy, they would always cheer us up. We originally wanted to trek to the Lakes first and then over to EBC. Shanker watched the way we trekked and felt it would be better for us to go to EBC first and then over the Cho La Pass to the Lakes. Thank goodness we listened to him because after EBC the Cho La Pass was closed due to snow and nobody was able to go over it. If we had gone to the Lakes first, we would have missed our trip to EBC. ALWAYS listen to your guide. Thank you Shanker!!! While in Kathmandu, Mosaic booked us excellent hotels. Raj was able to see the types of accommodations we liked and made sure that each time we needed a hotel that he booked us into one we would approve of. He set up excellent sight seeing tours and also a trip to Chitwan National Park. We were always extremely pleased with any tour he arranged. I cannot say enough about Mosaic Adventure. Madhav, Raj, Shanker and the porters are the best!! If we go back to Nepal, Mosaic will be our choice of outfitters. They offer a very fair price for their trips and excellent service. Thank you for making our trip a safe and wonderful time.
- Verified Purchase By Thomas Stone May 8, 2014 Great company to hike withI trekked with mosaic adventures for a 16 day trek to the Everest region in April 2014. I booked with Madhav in Kathmandum and went for the the Everest Base Camp trek via Gokyo Ri and the Cho La pass. Our guide from Mosaic Adventure was Shanker, with Mingma and Rama as our porters. The company was great about all aspects of the hike. We got in to Lukla on a day where most flights missed out. The accommodation was good and the itinerary coming via the Cho La pass made for a far more interesting trek than the standard Everest Base Camp route, and also a fair bit more challenging. I would highly recommend trekking in the Everest or Annapurna region with Mosaic Adventure, as they were a great team to hike with. Two members from our crew decided not to go over the Cho La pass and Mosaic were happy to split the group and managed the trip so both groups had an enjoyable time. The guides and porters were happy to point things out, go at our pace, laugh and joke around with us and each other. If anyone was not feeling well it was looked after immediately and professionally. The Everest region itself was beyond spectacular with highlights including Gokyo Ri, the Guzemba glacier crossing, Cho Las pass, and Kala Pattar. I would absolutely trek with Madhav, Shanker and Mosaic Adventures in the future, and recommend them to anyone looking for a great company to trek with. Thanks guys!
