Everest region is one of the famous trekking regions in Nepal. Since this region host, the tallest mountain in the world called the Everest.

Everest Base Camp trek is a very famous base camp trek in the Everest region of Nepal.

This trek is considered as the high altitude trek. Many trekkers are prone to the altitude sickness. As you hike higher the oxygen level becomes thinner and it makes hard to breathe.

One of the experienced guides suggests that you should well acclimatize at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. If you don’t do so, there will be a high chance of altitude sickness.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1345m/4412ft)

Day 2: Trip arrangements, meeting with staff and sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

Day 3: Short flight to Lukla (2840m/9320ft)–Trek to Phakding (2610m/8560 ft)–approximately 3.5 hours

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11290 ft) – Approximately 6 hrs

Day 5: Acclimatization day trip around Namche Bazaar.

Day 6: Trek to Tengboche (3860m/12660 ft) – Approximately five hours

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche (4360m/14300 ft) – Approx. 5 hrs

Day 8: Acclimatization day trip around Dingboche.

Day 9: Lobuche (4940m/16207 ft) – Approx. 5 hrs.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Accommodation: Kathmandu 3 Star Hotel

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 1345m/4412ft

Highlights: Nepali Food and Cultural music and dance

Welcome to Nepal !! Upon your arrival, our representative will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and will transfer you to the respective hotel. The remaining day you may stroll around the streets of Kathmandu. In the evening, you can enjoy the cultural dinner around your hotel. Stay overnight in the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Trip arrangements, meeting with staff and sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

Accommodation: Kathmandu 3 Star Hotel

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Highlights: Sightseeing at UNESCO World Heritage Sites and preparation of trek.

On the second day, you’ll have a day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. You’ll visit three UNESCO Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Pashupatinath a holy temple, Boudhanath stupa a Buddhist pilgrimage spot, Swayambhunath the monkey temple and Kathmandu Old Durbar Square.

After exploring the city, in the evening you’ll attend small team up a meeting. You’ll get introduced to Guide and he’ll provide you a brief about the upcoming trip plan. At the same time, if you’ve to buy any trekking gears or things then Guide will help take you to the trekking stores in Thamel.

Stay overnight in the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Short flight to Lukla–Trek to Phakding

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 2840 m/ 9,320 ft, Lukla and 2,610 m/ 8,560 ft, Phakding

Trekking Hours: Approximately 3.5 hours

Highlights: A dramatic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla

On the third day, the Everest Base Camp trek begins with the short and dramatic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.

Early in the morning, you’ll transfer to the international airport for the domestic flight. Due to weather conditions, the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla always leave early in the morning.

Once you reach Lukla, you’ll make initial step to Everest Base Camp trek. After taking a quick breakfast, you’ll head towards to Phakding.

At the first day of the trek, walking via the Himalaya jungle and crossing the several swing bridges you’ll reach a small settlement of Phakding where you’ll spend your night.

Day 4: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 3,440 m/ 11,290 ft

Trekking Hours: Approximately 6 hours

Highlights: Crossing the several suspension bridges, walking via Sagarmatha National Park, Monjo Village, and Namche Bazaar

On the fourth day, you’ll head towards from Phakding to Namche Bazaar. Despite route to Namche is slightly longer and more challenging, you’ll be amazed by the beauty of the environment!!!

You’ll pass via several prayer wheels, stupas, and shrines. You’ll be able to take the spiritual feel of the area. Also, the trail will full of donkeys and yaks carrying goods up and down the track.

After passing via the Monjo village, you’ll reach the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Here your trekking permits will be checked. Admiring the natural beauty and observing different wild species you’ll reach Namche Bazaar.

It is the main trading center in the Everest region of Himalayas. It is home to around 2000 people and many tourists take this place as an acclimatization day.

This place is full of several shops, cafe, bars. It’s the best place to relax !!!

You’ll spend overnight at one of the finest tea houses of Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Acclimatization day trip around Namche Bazaar.

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Trekking Hours: Approximately 5 hours

Highlights: Excursion of Namche Bazaar main focal point of Sherpa culture.

On the fifth day, you’ll go for a small hike around the Namche Bazaar. This will help you to acclimatize with the thinner oxygen in the air. To avoid the altitude sickness, you need to hike high and sleep at the lowest possible altitude.

You’ll take a walk up to the Khunde hospital built by Sir Edmund Hillary. You can also visit the village of Syangboche, where the Everest View hotel is located. From the hilltop, you’ll get an awesome view of horse-shaped Namche valley.

Apart from this, you can also enjoy the outstanding views of Mt. Everest, Mt, Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Kusum Kanguru.

Rest of day, you can explore the beautiful Khumbu valley.

Day 6: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 3,860 m/ 12,660 ft

Trekking Hours: Approximately 5 hours

Highlights: Tengboche Monastery, the largest Gompa in the Khumbu region.

On the sixth day, you’ll head towards from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche village. This is the oldest Sherpa village in the Khumbu region. The trail leads you first at Kyangjuma and then descends slightly to Dudhkoshi.

The trail offers a splendid view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Aba Dablam, and Mt. Thamserku. You’ll also walk via the dense rhododendron and birch forests where you’ll spot musk deer and Himalayan Thar. Then the trail reaches Sansa the main junction to Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp.

Climbing a steep ascent you’ll reach to the famous Tengboche Monastery. It is one of the largest monasteries of the Khumbu region. The night will be spent in a basic tea house in Tengboche.

Day 7: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 4,360 m/ 14,300 ft

Trekking Hours: Approximately 5 hours

Highlights: Walking via lush forests, passing via Chortens, Mani-walls, and prayer flags.

On the seventh day, the trek begins from Tengboche and head towards to Dingboche. The second famous place for an acclimatization day.

You’ll walk via lush forests and take a gradual climb up to the Pangboche valley. This valley has the highest settlement year around. Here you can witness different mani walls and chortens. You can also get a close-up view of Mt. Aba Dablam.

Enjoying the natural scenery, you’ll continue to walk to the Pheriche and after that soon you’ll reach Imja Valley. Finally, after the last and steepest climb of the day, you’ll finally reach Dingboche. The night will be spent in a basic tea house in Dingboche.

Day 8: Acclimatization day trip around Dingboche.

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Trekking Hours: Approximately 5 hours

Highlights: Awesome view of Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Amadablam and stones wall covering the Imja Valley

This is a second acclimatization of the Everest Base Camp trek. But don’t get confused between acclimatization and rest day.

After having breakfast, you’ll hike to the ridge on the north behind the village. This vantage point will reward with a great panoramic view of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, and other surrounding peaks.

With a great Himalayan view, you’ll also get a charming view of Imja Khola valley. Rest of day you’ll take rest and explore the rest of the place of Dingboche village.

You’ll spend a night at Dingboche.

Day 9: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 4,940 m/ 16,207 ft

Trekking Hours: Approximately 5 hours

Highlights: An amazing view of Chola lake and Mt. Pumori, stone memorials of Sherpas that perished at the Khumbu glacier.

On a ninth day, the trek begins with a climb to Dughla via the Khumbu Khola valley. During the walk, you’ll enjoy a majestic view of Mt. Pumori and Chola lake.

On a crossing, a small wooden bridge the trail ascend to Dughla. Once you reach Dughla, then you’ve to climb up the steep terminal of the Khumbu Glacier.

Here you can witness many stone memorials each is dedicated to the climbers who had lost their lives during the Mt. Everest climbing expeditions.

You can also get an amazing view of other peaks including Pumori, Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Mahalangur Himal. Then leaving behind the Khumbu Glacier, the trails gently climb up to the Lobuche.

You’ll spend a night at Lobuche.

Day 10: Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp – back to Gorak Shep

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 5,300 m/ 17,400 ft, Everest Base Camp and 5,170 m/ 16,961 ft, Gorak Shep

Trekking Hours: Approximately 8 hours

Highlights: 360-degrees views of snowy mountains like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Khumbutse, the glimpse of Kala Patthar, and walking via glacial trails and reach Everest Base Camp.

Early in the morning, you will start a short hike from Lobuche to Gorak Shep. Walking via rocky glacier you’ll reach Gorak Shep.

Once you reach, you’ll grab a quick lunch and if everything is fine you’ll head towards Everest Base Camp. Following the trails of Khumbu Glacier and catching the glimpse of Mt. Everest finally you’ll reach Everest Base Camp.

After spending the quality time exploring the base camp and surrounding areas, you’ll back to Gorak Shep. You’ll spend a night at Gorak Shep.

Day 11: Hike up to Kala Pattar and trek to Periche

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 5,545 m/ 18,192 ft, Kala Patthar and 4,270 m/ 14,070 ft, Pheriche

Trekking Hours: Approximately 7 hours

Highlights: Sunrise view over Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and Ama Dablam from the best viewpoint of Khumbu region Kala Patthar.

On the eleventh day, early in the morning, you’ll hike to the Kala Patthar. After walking for few hours you’ll reach the famous viewpoint of Kala Patthar at 5,545 m.

Once you reach the top, you’ll be compelled to forget your all pain that occurs during your whole journey.

The viewpoint offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Pumori, and Mt. Ama Dablam. Even with the first light of the day, the view grows golden and change back to its original color.

All these things are seriously breathtaking!!!

You’ll get a few times to capture these beautiful moments and then you’ll hike back to Gorak Shep. After having breakfast, you’ll retrace back to Pheriche for an overnight stay.

Day 12: Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 3,440 m/ 11,290 ft

Trekking Hours: Approximately 6 hours

Highlights: Villages like Tengboche, Pangboche, Sansa, Khumjung, and Namche Bazaar.

On the twelfth day, you’ll head back to Namche Bazaar from Pheriche. The trail drops downhill till you reach Pangboche village.

Again, the trail continues to drop along the riverside and cross the bridge over Imja Khola. Then you’ll walk continuous uphill until you reach Tengboche.

Once again trail leads via the bank of Dudh Koshi river and returns back to Kyangjuma passing Sansa. From here the walk is easy to Namche Bazaar. You’ll spend a night at Namche, here you can enjoy a hot shower and relax in cafe, restaurants, and bars.

Day 13: Trek from Namche to Lukla

Accommodation: Basic Teahouse

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Altitude: 2,840 m/ 9,320 ft

Trekking Hours: Approximately 6 hours

Highlights: Rhododendron and Pine forest, Sherpa villages and prayer stones.

On the thirteen days, you’ll be back to Lukla via crossing the Dudh Koshi river from Namche Hill. First, you’ll reach Monjo and after some formalities at the check post of National Park at Monjo, you’ll continue your walk to Phakding.

Enjoying the last day of your trek, you’ll continue your walk to Lukla. Now the most of the trails are flat, you can enjoy walking on open rhododendrons and pine forests.

Once you reach Lukla, you can opt for some alone time or spend time with other fellow trekkers. Cherish all the memories that you’ve made during the past few days.

Overnight stay at the lodge of Lukla.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu

Accommodation: Kathmandu 3-star Hotel

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Flight Hours: 45-min

Highlights: Wonderful aerial view from the plane

On the fourteen days, you’ll fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning. Enjoy the 45-minute scenic flight. On your arrival to the airport at Kathmandu, our representative will transfer you to the respective hotel.

You can take rest and if you wish you can go explore the city. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 15: Rest day Shopping/ Leisure

This is a free day, you can do shopping. You can buy souvenirs for your close one around Thamel area also worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. You’ll celebrate the completion of Everest Base Camp trek and have final dinner together in the evening. Overnight stay at Kathmandu
