Discovering the Beauty of Gokyo Lakes Trek Through Stunning Photos

The Gokyo Lakes Trek is one of the most beautiful hiking routes in Nepal, situated in the Khumbu region, also known these days as the Everest region. As we pass through various Sherpa settlements, we eventually reach the Gokyo Lakes, which are situated at an altitude of 4700 meters, with some lakes situated above that altitude. During our 10-day Gokyo Lakes Trek journey starting from Lukla, the primary destination of this trip is, of course, reaching the Gokyo Lakes, which are considered to be some of the highest freshwater lakes.

Once you reach Gokyo Lakes, it offers a breathtaking vista of various mountain peaks, including many 8000ers, like Mount Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Lhotse. Along this trip, we can also see the famous Ngozumpa glacier which is located below the Mount Cho Oyu. The Ngozumpa glacier is considered one of the longest glaciers in the Himalayas, with a length of 36 kilometers.

Our special trek begins with a scenic flight to Lukla from Ramechap. If you’re planning to trek in the Everest region during peak season, please note that most likely, your flight to/from Lukla will operate from Ramechap. From Lukla, the Gokyo Lakes trek route follows the classic EBC trek route until we reach Namche Bazaar. From there, our trail goes left heading to the valley of Gokyo. Along the route, we pass through rugged terrain, hanging prayer flags also known as Lungda, and a few suspension bridges hanging high above the Himalayan rivers. The villages that we pass through are surrounded by mani stone walls, chhortens, memorial sites, and teahouses.

Overall, the trip will be a blend of amazing views of unique landscapes, cultural experiences, physical endurance, and an overall life-changing experience. Here are some of the photos of this amazing Gokyo Lakes trek for you to enjoy.
