On this occasion of World Environment Day, Mosaic Adventure would like to reiterate the importance of the world and to let everyone know that we are actively joining the global movement to address pressing environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices. This year’s theme #BeatPlasticPollution along with #EcosystemRestoration works as a crucial reminder of the urgent need to protect our planet’s ecosystems and minimize the impacts of climate change.
Our company dedication to environmental conservation is highlighted by the alarming realities that Nepal faces due to the climate crisis. Recent reports reveal Nepal as one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change that is proven by various ongoing disasters that includes experiencing extreme weather events such as droughts, glacier explosions, delayed monsoons, intense landslides, and floods. The increasing heat has even resulted in the closure of many schools in the lower lands of Nepal, posing harm to school children.
In addition to that, the consequences of climate change extend beyond the environment, affecting food security, health, and poverty levels. Rising temperatures have led to the proliferation of vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria, as well as waterborne diseases such as cholera. Nepal is endemic for cholera with the potential for large outbreaks; in 2022 there have been many cases of Cholera reported in Nepal including Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. This situation demands immediate action and collaboration between government bodies, private organizations and general people to address these issues and safeguard the well-being of our individuals.
Despite Nepal’s efforts to combat the climate crisis, challenges in implementation persist. The nation’s renewable energy expansion targets have fallen short, with renewable accounting for only 3 percent of total energy consumption in 2020. Additionally, plastic waste remains a significant environmental threat, as the use of polythene bags continues despite pledges to transition to paper and cloth bags.

Madhav started working as a porter in 2001 and then moved on to work as a trekking guide. After working in the trekking and tourism industry for eight years, he co-founded Mosaic Adventure in 2009.
Madhav has trekked to most of the trekking destinations in Nepal, including Everest Base Camp Trek, Annapurna Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit Trek, Poon Hill Trek, Jomsom Muktinath Trek, Indigenous Peoples Trek, Langtang Valley Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, and all of the day hikes around Kathmandu.
He has also extensively traveled to other countries such as Australia, the USA, the UK, France, Hong Kong, Japan, China, the Philippines, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Thailand, Turkey, and India.
